How to Remove and Replace a Toilet
Whether you are renovating your bathroom or simply just replacing a broken toilet, it is a fairly simple DIY project to remove and replace a toilet. It is a fairly straightforward task since the waste and supply pipes have already been plumbed. Step one: It is extremely important to shut off the water supply to the toilet. Then continue to flush the toilet until the bowl is completely empty to ensure any remaining water doesn’t end up all over your floor. You may also have to scoop out any remaining water in the bowl. Step two: Unscrew the toilet from the water supply line. Then unscrew all the nuts and bolts that connect the toilet to the ground.Step three: Start by loosening the seal of the toilet by using a utility knife and cutting the area between the floor and the bowl. Once the toilet is slightly free you can begin rocking it side to side before you lift the toilet off the ground. Then remove the remaining wax gasket.Step four: Perhaps remove your old toilet from your working area before preparing your new toilet. You will need to insert the new wax gasket onto your new toilet. Step five: Apply caulk to the base of the toilet and lower the toilet bowl on top of the flange and press down on it so it starts to set. Step six: Start tightening the nuts, bolts and washing on the toilet. However, be careful not to fasten them too tight otherwise damage could occur. Step seven: Guarantee the toilet is level with the ground before setting the new cistern. Then connect the cistern with the toilet bowl by using nuts, bolts and washers.Step eight: Connect the new toilet to the supply water line and turn the water supply back on so you can fill the toilet. If you encounter any difficulties while replacing a toilet, be sure to consult Plumbers Stratford who are more than happy to help for an affordable price.
